Silver gilt spoon bowl on 9ct gold chain

£100.00

A rare and beautiful silver gilt (sterling silver with an overlay of 9 ct gold, is decorated in an ancient Persian pattern with black enamel. I have no idea when it was made as the hall mark was on the handle but it would have certainly been early or mid 20th century, produced in Birmingham, probably by the firm of Turner and Simpson who made this design in silver as well as silver gilt. Because the overall look of the piece is gold, I have hung it on an 18 inch fine 9ct gold chain. However, if you look at the inside of the bowl, (see photo) you will see that the gilt is worn in places and the original silver is showing through. This is a stunning necklace for your little black dress and no one needs to know it isn’t solid gold!

Grandma’s Spoons jewellery is created from antique and vintage silver which will inevitably show signs of age. This is an intrinsic part of their charm. All items are in a presentation box and next day special delivery by Royal Mail is included in the price.
