The courtyard

The pictures I create are intended to look as if they are paintings, hence I describe them as ‘painted in wool.’
I use wool and silk fibres which are applied to a wool felt backing by a special barbed needle. This technique is known as ‘ needle-felt’.

Most pieces are sold in a signed mount with a backing board which is suitable for placing in a standard frame available from stores like The Range. Alternatively they may be professionally framed.

if you prefer, pictures may be unmounted and posted to you in a postal tube. This is the only method of posting available for sales outside the UK and Ireland.

This is an original work of art. No prints will be produced from it. It is placed portrait in a 12x 8inch mount and the visible area of the picture is 7.75 x 9.75 inches.

I was recently commissioned to do a picture of the ruins of Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire and I loved e process of depicting the play of light and shade on the stone. I hunted for a royalty free photo of something similar and decided on this. I love the play of light and shade that you see in a courtyard. I have no idea where this one is - it could be in Spain or Ireland or Morocco, but it makes me think of a quiet space with shade, on a sunny day.
